NOTHING SEEMS TO BE WORKING!
IS THERE SOMETHING WRONG WITH ME?
A common state that most of us trying to lose weight or gain muscles have somehow found ourselves in. The skepticism creeps in after putting a lot of sweat, blood & tears over a given period but the results don't seem relative. The investment of time, money and resources increases the frustrations which makes us question the process. It becomes even harder to individuals who started the journey with a group of friends but the friends are faring well in terms of progress than them. Where exactly is the problem in all these?
FROM A GENETICS PERSPECTIVE.
Everyone is build different and it cuts across all aspects of life. In our case, the difference is linked to genetics and the outcome it has on the results from exercising. To expound on it in a body composition perspective, there are individuals whose genes are made up of more muscle-to-fat ratio. This gives a rough idea of why such guys easily get away with almost anything be it poor nutrition, poor training mechanisms or lack of consistency and end up building a decent physique regardless. There are others whose genes are made up of more fat-to-muscle ratio. This explains why they tend to have a rough time when aiming to lose fat. Small details like spike of stress levels, being in a calorie surplus or lack of physical activities would be detrimental to the progress. It takes a lot of disciple and time for them to be get in shape.
IS THERE A SOLUTION TO THIS?
Great question indeed. These genes end up being a part of our DNA which limits the options available. A few mutations can be done by geneticists where they can delete some specific DNA sequence then add new generic material. This can also be viewed as Gene therapy. Which should be aimed at improving the quality of health of the particular individual.
Trusting the process can be a bitter pill to swallow but learning to appreciate small wins could be a game changer. Understanding that everyone is built different and that it has a great impact on the physical outcome would help reduce the comparison. Peer pressure, social media effects and the urge to fit in tends to be the biggest barrier in this situation.
CAN IT REALLY BE ACHIEVED?
